A brief description of this audio archive:
Nick and Roger met and began making films and videos while working for the famous but troubled painter and filmmaker Paul Sharits. Roger edited Paul's last film RAPTURE and Nick and Roger both handled Paul's affairs for painting, film and a number of other colorful activities in the early ninties. Ron joined when Nick and Roger departed from Paul and the three created TOPSYTURVY. Paul's contribution to the world was his 'fast cutting' and subliminal type 'flicker films' like TOUCHING, which have influenced everything from the biggest Ad man to big directors like Lucas, along with early producers at MTV networks. This audio archive is an 'answering machine message' that Paul left for Nick and Roger circa 1991 as a kind of to do list. This was a very typical 'to do' list by the magical Filmmaker and Painter whose work can be found at the Anthology Film Archives. Paul suffered from manic depression. He might appear as a 'madman' in this message but at other times he was a kind and wonderful teacher and father-like figure to many Buffalo artists.
